I’m tickled to be heading back to Cooks and Books right here in St. Paul on Saturday July 27th! Join me, Jason A. Adams, and a bunch of other great local artists and business folks from 6 to 8 pm for a great cause, great books, and great food. I’ll add more information here about who all will be there as I get it.
Cooks and Books features local and regional food, wine and beer, and of course, local and regional authors. Proceeds will benefit the J. Fred Matthews Memorial Library and The Lyric Project. You can get tickets in advance and save $5, and you’ll get all kinds of delicious food and drink tastings!
I wrote a fun fantasy short story called The Earworms for a workshop a while back. The story had to be set in our real-life hometowns, and we got to pick from a list of things to put together. The two that jumped right out at me were attacked and by music. So I combined those with one of the great new restaurants here in St. Paul playing outdoor music. To my always-active writer brain, it sounded like the building itself had a soundtrack.
I turned that into horrible earworms that showed up uninvited and refused to leave, and the story was off and running. Yes, you may get songs stuck in your head while you’re reading.
AND half the proceeds from sales of The Earworms will go to the Cooks and Books fundraiser for the library and the Lyric. That lets me cover my printing and shipping costs and help out two causes that are near and dear to me. We’re also donating a few of our books and a $25 Spiral Publishing gift card.
So be sure to mark your calendar and come on down and say howdy, check out St. Paul’s great food, drink, and writers, and pick up your special edition of The Earworms!
