Welcome to the last day of 2021, and get ready for a trip back to the final hours of the last millennium!
I’m delighted to share my contribution to this year’s Holiday Spectacular from WMG Publishing with Sometimes Strange Magic Casts the Best Spell. You may remember the setting from The Magic Cat of the Hidden Springs Inn and Spa and The Inn, the Black Cat, and Two Halves of the Same Heart, both featured in past Holiday Spectaculars.
This time we visit 1999, which those of us who’ve been around long enough to remember it know was a very strange time indeed. Especially those of us who worked in the IT field, as Jason and I both did.
We didn’t know whether we were facing down the electronic end times as those pesky digits turned from 19– to 20–, or whether all the long hours of hard work getting ready would make it a smooth transition after all.
Thankfully the zeros and ones mostly behaved in the dawning minutes of 01/01/00.
In this case of this story, one of our very own peculiar cats adds to the strangeness. And helps send the century out on a sweet romantic note.
