Spiral Publishing continues to offer a free weekly short story, and up this week is my Atlanta-based fantasy story “Little Five.” This story picks up after “Terminalia” with another peek into my own special multiverse.

Introducing Spiral Publishing’s Thursday Escapes!
After a busy several weeks of staying home, writing, publishing, and planning, I’m delighted to announce Spiral Publishing’s Thursday Escapes! They’ll be sharing a different story from me or Jason A. Adams on their site free each week.
Just our way to try to help folks stay entertained while we’re all staying safe.
Great Contest News, and All Kinds of Free Reading!
This year started out fast and busy around here, and I have all kinds of fun things to share!
The first goes back to last year, when I entered my very short story “The Spider Who Ate the Elephant” into the Golden Nib Contest for The Virginia Writers Club. My home group The Appalachian Authors Guild surprised me by picking it as their winning entry. Then I was even more pleasantly surprised when it took second place in fiction statewide!
2019 and a Decade in Review
I ended 2018 with one simple goal, really. I wanted to work on consistency in my writing. Getting all kinds of words in huge bursts from time to time with weeks or even months of nothing in between wasn’t working for me any more. I also knew I had to actually track my word count to see where I was and how I could improve.
Well, the totals are in for 2019. While I didn’t hit a couple of the big pie-in-the-sky goals I had in mind on 1/1/19, wow, did I ever fail toward the better!
Holiday Spectacular: The Magic Cat of the Hidden Springs Inn and Spa
Thank you for stopping by to read my sweet holiday romance The Magic Cat of the Hidden Springs Inn and Spa! Alas, the free week is over, much like the holiday season for 2019.
Check out this post for more information about the WMG Holiday Spectacular, including my two stories, one by Jason A. Adams, and a bunch of wonderful holiday tales by some of my favorite writers.
Thank you for your fantastic support in 2019, and Happy New Year!
A Thirty-five in One Holiday Gift for Readers!
A great opportunity to get holiday shopping done early for the readers in your life, or to give yourself a daily break from festive madness!
WMG Publishing has put together a wonderful Holiday Spectacular: a collection of 35 holiday-themed short stories, including two by me and one by Jason A. Adams. Both of mine are Appalachian stories, too. I’ve read almost all of the stories, and I’m excited to get to read them again in this fun story-a-day format!
